Knowing the time relative to a specific location: Some devices can determine the time using location services.  For example, if your device is on a plane or train and location services are turned on, the device can automatically update the neighboring time to the plane or train timetable specifically related to the location.



Device-specific alternate time updates: Some devices can learn your local time and update it when you don't use special settings.  Using this type of device, the device can update the local time automatically.

As such, these are just some examples and time settings may change automatically on different devices.  Because of this type, time settings can be simplified and timed to maintain time accuracy and reduce user inconvenience.
