Star-Delta Motor Connection

How to make star delta three phase motor connection

The connection of star-delta three-phase motor can be given to you by:

A star-delta three-phase motor is usually connected to three sets of units (or terminals), and this connection is known as artificial star (set) connection.  A star-delta connection can be made by following the steps below.

First, the motor has three sets of terminal numbers labeled: U1, V1, and W1.  These terminals are generally used in reversible electrical connections of motors.

Now follow the steps below:

First, connect the U1 terminal to the R terminal of a three-phase power source (such as a municipal power supply line) and the W1 terminal to the neutral (N) terminal.

Now, connect the V1 terminal to the Y terminal of the three-phase power source and the W1 terminal to the neutral (N) terminal.

Finally, connect the W1 terminal to the B terminal of the three-phase power source and the U1 and V1 terminals to the neutral (N) terminal.

Thus, you can complete the connection of star-delta three-phase motor.  It is considered a commonly used connection method that can be used in various applications, such as pumps, fans, conveyors and other electrical machines.

Your connection method will depend on the type of three-phase motor and power source you are using.  Always check that the motor connections are correct before you connect them.

And complete the previously established specification whether you are using a particular connection method.  Generally, three-phase motors are connected through star-delta connection arrangement which is commonly used for electrical connection to the power source.

It can be more complex compared to other connection methods, but an example of a star-delta connection is shown in the following example:

Three sets of terminal number labels on a three-phase motor can be U1, V1, and W1.

First, connect the U1 terminal to the R terminal of a three-phase source.

Connect the V1 terminal to the Y terminal of a three-phase source.

Connect the W1 terminal and learn more. Watch tutorials on social media and get advice from good technicians.
